Security alert: Violent attacks continue in Rio Grande do Norte

 

Event

 

Rio Grande do Norte reported violent attacks in more than 35 municipalities across the state over the course of four consecutive nights resulting in disruption to basic services. Criminal elements have targeted public infrastructure, including municipal buses and offices, and private property.   U.S. government personnel are directed to avoid travel to the state of Rio Grande do Norte until further notice.

U.S. citizens who must travel to Rio Grande do Norte should review travel plans and monitor local news sources for additional information.

Demonstrations and strikes are common in urban areas, and may occur unexpectedly, disrupting transportation, and may escalate into violence.
